Carlotta is an ordained minister, and has been involved in ministry for over ten years. She also serves as an associate minister at the church she attends. As a minister, she works with people of all ages and backgrounds. She has served in several ministries in the church, and her service volunteering as the children’s minister led to her interest in the counseling profession. While in graduate school, Carlotta began working as a Crisis Team Counselor for a local police department’s Victim Services Unit. In that capacity, she worked with individuals and families affected by issues such as homicide, suicide, natural death, assault, robbery, sexual assault, family violence, and fatal car accidents. In that capacity, she was also able to give several community education presentations as well as train volunteers for work with the police department. Carlotta works to develop good rapport with each of her clients. She works with them to identify problem areas, develop personal goals, and collaborate on treatment plans. She utilizes a few different therapy approaches, but she typically prefers Cognitive or Person-Centered therapy. She believes that a good therapeutic relationship is a foundation for lasting positive change. Carlotta currently works as a probation counselor at McLennan County Juvenile Justice Center. She is also practicing as an LPC at Abounding Aspirations.
